Hi Mower Man, we have just recently bought this model and yet to test it out. I notice the engine chasais looks a little different. Do Briggs and Stratton still exist? I thought the company dissolved since 2020?

Hi, love the video! Very useful! I’ve had a mouse chew through my ignition coil on my 300 series.. I don’t suppose you could point me in the right direction to get a replacement ignition coil? I’m struggling to find one online that says it’s compatible with this mower

I have a 10 yo mower with this Briggs and Stratton 450e engine. It revs up and down, as though the throttle is continually opening and closing. I watched another video of Mowerman's explaining how to clean the carb. I did that, and it was just the same. Then I figured the fuel was old. So I replaced it with new conditioned fuel. Then, still no better. Finally, I decided to simply replace the carb because they're cheap enough. Still no better. It also has a new spark plug and filter. I figured it may be the throttle governor, but I can't tell. Can anyone help, please?

Thank you, @mowerman, you saved our mower! It kept surging and stalling. I followed your video and stripped down the carb, especially the white plastic bit with the tubes in. All blown through with WD40 and reassembled. Runs like a train now! 😀

Screwfix currently (june 2024) sells a 'Titan' self propelled petrol lawn mower with a briggs engine for £199. I think its the same as the Mac Allister £254 that you're showing in this video but just re-branded.

Hi David, my gearbox is stuck in the on function. I have disconnect the cable that pulls the level on the gearbox but the wheels still turn when engine running (belt connected to pulleys). The lever on the gearbox box is a stiff and has a little movement. I was thinking of opening the gearbox and try to disengage or trying free up. I am aware oil will leak out. Is it possible to add oil and reassemble the gearboxes? Thank you in advance.

The screw for my filter cannister does NOT tighten into anything--- just spins and with motor vibration, the filter flopps around and is NOT doing what it should. I have gotten New screw and still doesn't tighten into anything. I have tried to make sure that the screw hole is NOT plugged with debris, and it doesn't seem to be the issue... Any advice?

Thanks for showing the governer spring location. I recently acquired an old Craftsman pressure washer and the inner spring is missing. The governer is hunting , just like they would on the Fairbanks Morse 13K HP Diesels we had in the Navy. So I ordered an OEM spring today from Sears a parts direct. They were extremely helpful and suggested I search you tube to see where it goes.

Question: I have a Briggs intek 6.5 I got free. No spark, and it was obvious someone had been trying to fix it. I removed coil, sanded the corroded mounting surfaces, sanded lightly the flywheel, and installed coil at .010 gap. Left kill wire unplugged. Spun motor over with drill and socket. No spark. Checked from plug wire to both kill terminal and body of coil with ohm meter, and got consistent 4.8k ohms. Tried with 3 different spark plugs,one almost new and running in another Intek. What is left to check? Do I just shake my head and buy a new coil? This is driving me nuts. I can't figure out what's wrong. Everything says it should be firing. The magnets have enough power to attract metal.

Thank you very much. I had only used the 450E about 5 times and then not for months. It was very hard to start then immediately cut out. I checked the spark plug and valve gaps which were fine, then did the carb breakdown and clean. There was a lot of petrol in the carburettor with some grit. Because everything otherwise looked virtually brand new I did not have high hopes, but it started and ran sweet as a nut! Must have been a little blockage in the carb. Cheers again, much appreciated

Hello there, I hope you are well. I have a mower with that exact engine and it runs quite well but not perfect. I took of the carb and cleaned it thorougly but by doing that, some of the gaskets were ripped. I managed to fit them back in and it seems to be good since it's not leaking but I'd like to change them. So i hoped to find articles in your video description but they are only Briggs parts?! I lost the screw that block carburator to the block-motor. Maybe someone can tell me dimensions? I think it's about 55 or 60 mm long, and 6 or 8 mm in diameter. I mean the black screw that in video you unscrew with your fingers. can you help me?

The carburettor you clean is not the same you remove from the machine.....

My fuel nozzle is siezed in place and unable to remove the top screw to get to the fuel injector nozzle. Any idea's as its stripping the flat head slightly. Thanks
